Homeschooler blogs that I enjoy:
Check back on this from time to time because I will add sites as I find them and get permission from the authors :)
http://sonsetacademy.blogspot.com/ -"THIS SCHOOL YEAR (2012-2013): We will be using My Father's World: Rome to the Reformation. Our oldest (whom we call Road Runner) is in 8th grade this year, but has special learning needs due to autism. Our youngest, an active boy (nicknamed Coyote), is in 4th." I used this website to make my own simple planner. I appreciate the fancy planners but I can't resist the urge to not fill out every single page and I ended up dropping the one I had last year after 2 weeks! Bookadventure.com I really like book adventure... when it has the books I am looking for. My oldest used this website in public school. I only used the quizzes once or twice. Pizza Hut's Book-it Program It is as easy as filling out a form. A free reward is always handy. Six Flags Read to Succeed Program - Discovery Education. Easy sign-up. Make sure to keep track of books and turn in paperwork as soon as possible. They have deadlines. This past year both kids recieved free six flags tickets and I received one for facilitating. They give a discount for other tickets. There is an age range for this offer. Simply Charlotte Mason "This website is dedicated to helping you homeschool your children using the Charlotte Mason method and wonderful philosophy of education". - I really like this homeschool method. I use this site as a resource but have not decided to use the planner at this time. Homeschool Skedtrac -This is a free online lesson planner, scheduler, and tracker. I really liked it but I don't want to have to mess with it everyday. It became tedious to have to catch up and was very time consuming. www.wellplannedday.com has a fancy paid online planner coming out this August. Enchanted Learning -My oldest loves Lapbooks. There is an endless supply of these and lots of great print-outs. You probably should stock up on ink cartridges for your printer. |

homeschoollegaladvantage.com both of these websites offer legal protection for your homeschool. Both are great organizations and I have used both. The websites also have tons of articles beneficial to a new homeschooler. Homeschool Convention - by Home Educating Family Association - an online homeschool convention. It is nice but definitely slim on variety. Click on Explore Curriculum and then choose Explore Methods, there you will find great videos explaining different methods. I think it helps to understand certain curriculum goals if you know the approach they take toward education. Midwest Homeschool Convention - this is one of the 5 Great Homeschool Conventions. This event is Information Overload!!! I have felt this convention is worth the time and money and I only go for the Exhibit Hall. I have heard great things from fellow homeschoolers regarding the classes. Homeschool Conventions - I have not attended any of these conventions but they are out there and available. |
